2.Do you have a long term or short term career plan?
A: In the next 3-5 years, I will make efforts to promote the process of reform of my family company, meanwhile, I’ll bring some professional managers to help to manage the company. In my long term plan, I’ll start my own business with my partners. My goal is to seek a path in the high-tech industry and build up a profitable and respectable enterprise.
3.What is your greatest strength?
A: My greatest strength should be the ability of self-learning. I do believe that no matter how outstanding a person is, self-learning will always be the core ability to help him to stay ahead.
4.What is your greatest weakness?
A: I’m a 100% perfectionist. I’ll do all I can to make everything good and notice even the smallest mistake. This weakness truly makes me spend too much time, however, I’m trying to overcome this shortcoming.
5.How do the people around you view MBA?
A: People around me think that MBA will benefit them in many aspects. It will provide professional knowledge of management and help to broaden their vision. Also, they can make friends so as to enlarge their networking and learn how to cooperate in a better way. All in a word, MBA is a good way to help them fulfill their career goals.
6.Why do you choose our university?
A: There’s no doubt that PHBS is one of the best business schools in Shenzhen. Besides its reputation, the academic atmosphere and professional teachers, what attracts me also is that PHBS has its own teaching buildings in Shenzhen. It’s one of the greatest advantages for a business school in this young city.
7.Why do you choose MBA?
A: Because MBA can help to strengthen my knowledge structure of management and broaden my horizon. What’s more, with the help of MBA, I may find a new way to break through the bottleneck which my family company is facing. Last but not least, I can know more friends and expand my networking in order to accelerate my career process.
8.What has been your greatest accomplishment?
A: I think it would be taking program to help a traditional and backward company to realize the office automation. After this program, the work efficiency was improved considerably.
9.Could you tell me about your family?
A: Sure, I have a big family. I’ve got 3 brothers and 3 sisters as well. We often have meals together and share joy and laughter. My mum is a successful businessman and the other members have satisfying jobs too. It’s definitely my fortunate to be born in such a happy family. I love them.
10.Describe a time when you got co-workers or classmates who dislike each other to work together.
A: Actually I’m a people-person. Firstly, I’ll talk to them individually and try to figure out why they dislike each other and see if I can solve the problems or not. If I fail, then I’ll persuade them to work together for common interest and forget the bad things temporarily.
11.Tell me about a time when you made a bad decision.
12.What kinds of people do you find it difficult to work with?
A: I think those who are self-centered, lazy and always making excuses are quite hard to work with because they don’t understand the spirit of teamwork.
13.When you made a mistake in a project, what would you do?
A: If I made a mistake in a project, firstly I would make an apology to my team, then I’d start to analyze the causes of the mistake and do anything I could to minimize the loss. Finally I would sum up the lessons and try to avoid it next time.
14.How do you handle rejection?
A: If everyone said yes, there would be no challenge, no excitement in the fascinating sphere of my life. Each no that you hear means that you are getting closer to the next yes. And what I should to do is to listen, to think and make efforts to get the next yes.
15.Are you more a follower or a leader?
A: Frankly, I’m more of a leader, but with team work spirit too. I really enjoy leading because it can bring me sense of achievement.
16.Describe an important project you have finished.
A: I’d like to share one of the significant projects I have finished in my family company. Since this company was lagging behind its competitors, the project aimed for improving the work efficiency. As I was the project leader, at first, I allocated tasks to each team member and made sure they were clear on the responsibilities. Then we started to work and I kept paying attention to the whole process of the project in order to ensure everything was going on smoothly. After finishing the project, I summarized and evaluated the final data. My abilities in organizing, communication and problems solving had been improved gradually during this project.
17.How do you manage your time in work?
A: I think good time management plays an important role both in work and my life. Before going to work, I’ll make an arrangement for the following week. Then I can finish my job more efficiently.
18.Describe your best friend and what influence him or her in work or life.
A: My best friend is Huangbin, he is such an intelligent and diligent person. He performs well both in school and workplace. Nevertheless, he still persists in upgrading himself and I think what influence him most must be the passion for life.
19.In what ways are you similar of different from your best friend?
A: I think I’m as passionate as my best friend. There’s still a long road for me to go, so keeping passion is an important way to show respect to my family, my friends and those who love me.
20.What are your career’s strengths and how do you capitalize on them?
A: I think my career’s strengths should be the following 3 points. The first is having favorable psychological qualities like optimism and persistence. Second is the abilities formed by nurture like good communication skills. Last but not least, I’ve learned basic but comprehensive theory of management. Through the first strength, I will gather some outstanding friends and build a team. Then with the second one, I’ll establish a company with my partners. Finally, under the help of the theory of management, I’ll practice in a mature way.
21.How can you balance your MBA study and your work if you were accepted.
A: I don’t think it’s hard for me to balance MBA study and my work because I am a young man full of energy. Besides, I’m unmarried and don’t have to worry about the family problems. So I just keep on working and finishing the study tasks.
22.Why did you take the MBA examination? Would you please say something about the currently MBA program in China?
A: As I became the deputy general manager in my family company, I found it hard to manage the company because of lack of sufficient experience in management. This is one of the key reasons why I decided to take the MBA examination. Currently, the MBA program in China is still lagging behind the MBA program in western countries. However, many kinds of education resources in China have been improved gradually, such as facilities, faculty and so on.
23.If you failed this time what will you do in the near future?
A: Actually I’ll not choose to give up, instead, I’ll keep my direction and stick to my goal that help me overcome obstacles. I’ll try again and arrange my time more properly. Anyway, I do believe I will succeed as long as I make efforts steadily.
24.Give me an example of a time when you used good judgment and logic in solving a problem.
A: When I started the ERP program, my colleagues knew nothing about it and the IT technician didn’t know what to do next. Things got stuck, by analysis, I thought the proper way to solve this problem is to find out the exact operation process of our company and turned it into technical language. So I communicated with different departments and tried to figure out the most accurate operation process of our company. Then I drew a flow chart which could help the technician understand our company. Finally the problem had been solved.
25.What steps do you follow to study a problem before making a decision?
A: First of all, I’ll define the problem to be solved and decision to be made. Secondly I’ll gather the necessary information I need and list all possible choices. Then consider comprehensively about each choice. Finally make a decision.
26.Why do you think you are qualified for MBA program?
A: I am a passionate, energetic and ambitious person with good communication skills leadership talent and teamwork spirit as well. That’s why I think I’m qualified for MBA program.
27.Do you have study plan if you were accepted as a MBA student?
A: I hope I can form a systematic view of business management and get a complete comprehension of its formation and development. And I will utilize my spare time to study the courses so as to make a solid foundation.
28.What’s your opinion about the requirement that a MBA student must have working experience?
A: I do agree that MBA student must have working experience. It all depends on the property of this major. MBA is different from the traditional courses, it focuses on developing professional managers or entrepreneurs. So having working experience is necessary.
29.Do you think English is quite important in MBA study? Why?A: I think English is quite important in MBA study. Because having a good command of English is critical to a MBA student as long as he wants to become an internationalized entrepreneur.
Since MBA projects have been far more developed in western countries than in China, an English proficiency will definitely be of a great help to the understanding and learning of advanced theories and practices in business administration.
30.What do you want to do after MBA study?
A: If conditions permit, I want to start my own business with my partners. My goal is to seek a path in the high-tech industry and build up a profitable and respectable enterprise.
31.What is the most important qualification that a MBA student should have?
A: I think the most important qualification that a MBA student should have is never be afraid of failure and always be ready to shoulder responsibilities.
32.Tell me something about teamwork.
A: I think teamwork means a lot. First of all, teamwork means trust,you need to entirely believe in your teammates. Secondly, teamwork means responsibility, you have to give up some of your own interests and fight for a group goal. Last but not least, teamwork means friendship, through excellent teamwork, people can make true friends.
33.Tell me something about management.
A: I think the essence of management is coordinate. Specifically, management means coordinating internal and external resources of a company and ensuring everything goes on smoothly.
34.How communication works in organizations?
A: Since the main body of organizations is human, that means conflicts and contradictions can not be avoided. In this case, communication plays a very important role in solving these kinds of problems. Communication usually works by settling differences and uniting the people.
35.Tell me the relationship between management and management theory.
A: I think the management theory could be the foundation of management. They are just like a sword and a shield. You can use management as a sword to attack in business, also you need to learn management theory as shield to protect yourself.
36.What do you do in your spare time?
A: I usually do some reading, go swimming and listen to the music in my spare time. Reading can broaden my horizon. Swimming can keep me fit. Listening to the music can make me calm and peaceful.
37.What have you learned from the jobs you have had?
A: I have learned a lot about communication, sales skills and industry knowledge. What’s more, I’ve learned how to lead a team and cooperate with other in a proper way
